Biography
Alfred Noyes
Alfred Noyes (1880 – 1958) wrote short stories and plays as well as poetry. He studied at Oxford, but failed to gain his degree as he met the publisher of his first volume of poetry The Loom of Years (1902) instead of attending one of his final exams. He was inspired by the coasts and mountains of Wales where he lived for a number of years. His poem ‘The Highwayman’ remains a perennial favourite.
