Sarojini Naidu

Sarojini Naidu (1879 – 1949) was an Indian political activist and poet. She was educated in Madras, London and Cambridge and played an important part in the Indian independence movement. She was also the first Indian woman to be president of the Indian National Congress. She wrote her poems in English and her first collection was The Golden Threshold published in London in 1905.
