Here you can find out more about the huge range of poets we feature in our pamphlets and the artists whose work appears on our beautiful covers.
We’ve now published poems by almost 800 historical and contemporary poets. In our pages you’ll find old favourites alongside twenty-first century voices – everyone from WH Auden to Benjamin Zephaniah. Although our emphasis is on British poetry, you’ll also find Irish, American and Australian writers.
We hope these pages will encourage you to explore further the work of a poet you’ve enjoyed in one of our pamphlets.

Roz Goddard
Roz Goddard lives in the West Midlands and has previously been poet laureate for Birmingham. Her work is also permanently on display at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and her poetry has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and 4. She runs writing workshops and courses and is currently studying for an MPhil in writing at Glamorgan University.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 – 1832) was a writer, biologist, artist, physicist and polymath. His play Faust has been called one of the greatest dramatic works of modern European literature, while his novel The Sorrows of Young Werther had a major impact in the Sturm und Drang period which marked the early phase of Romanticism. Many of the composer Franz Schubert’s Lieder were inspired by Goethe’s poems.

Nicolette Golding
Nicolette Golding was born in London in 1953 and has enjoyed making poems since the age of seven. She has been published in Poetry London, Artemis, The Interpreter’s House, some anthologies, and once on a London bus. Too introverted to be an actor, she often satisfies that inclination by writing in the voices of characters, creatures or objects. She lives with her husband in Norfolk.

Oliver Goldsmith
Oliver Goldsmith (1728 – 1774) was an Anglo-Irish writer most famous for The Vicar of Wakefield published in 1766 and the comic drama She Stoops to Conquer (1771). His poems were published in The Poems and Plays of Oliver Goldsmith (Frederick Warne and Co., 1889) and include the 160-line romantic ballad ‘The Hermit’ (which turns up in The Vicar of Wakefield when it’s sung by one of the characters).

Sally Goldsmith
Sally Goldsmith is a Sheffield-based songwriter and broadcaster, as well as being a poet. Her pamphlet Singer was chosen by Michael Longley as a first stage winner in the 2008 Poetry Business Pamphlet Competition. Sally has also won prizes for her radio work and song-writing, including two Sony Radio Awards. Her first poetry collection Are We There Yet? was published by Smith/Doorstop in 2013.

Lorna Goodison
Lorna Goodison was born in Kingston, Jamaica and has published numerous poetry collections. The first, Tamarind Season, appeared in 1980 and her most recent is Supplying Salt and Light (McClelland and Stuart, 2013). She was a painter before she was a writer and her poems are rich in the imagery of her Jamaican homeland. While her poetry engages with history and social issues, there is often also a place for humour.
